Private Lessons

Private Lessons are great for families who have schedules that make it difficult for them to attend group classes or who have dogs that may not be ready to work around a group of people or unknown dogs. Private Lessons have a curriculum similar to the group classes, but can be tailored to what is needed for you and your dog.

Our initial package is for four one hour lessons. The lessons are scheduled on days and times that work best for you and are usually scheduled once a week. If you need additional help you may purchase one lesson at a time. Most issues can be resolved in four lessons if you do the work needed to change your dog's behavior. You will be given written instructions and email help so that you get the most out of your lessons.

We can design a training program to help you meet your goals - whether you just want an easy dog to live with or would like to be able to take your dog places and have everyone say "what a GOOD dog"! You may find yourself getting hooked on training and decide to compete in obedience, sports or want to train your dog to be a therapy dog! Just tell us a little about what is going on and what issues you need help with - we can then create a program just for you and your dog so that you can learn to live happily together! For example, our Good Dog Program includes:

  • Puppy Head Start - start your puppy off on the right paw with house training, crate training, setting boundaries, chew training, bite inhibition, appropriate toys and play, proper interactions with children and how to set your puppy up to be a well mannered member of your family

  • Adult Manners - if you've adopted an adult dog who needs some help settling in (or have an older dog that needs to learn some manners), we can help you set up a program to make teaching good manners easy! This includes house training, crate training, getting a reliable recall, teaching your dog to walk nicely on leash and teaching him how to greet people politely.

Behavior Modification

Some dogs develop issues that can get worse with time and make them hard to live with. We will work with you to develop a plan to address the issue and help you and your dog work through it. Some types of behavior problems that we address are:

  • aggression towards dogs or people

  • toy or food guarding

  • fearfulness

  • anxiety

  • chewing/destruction of property

  • excessive barking

  • handling

  • socialization

  • digging

  • house training
